Volunteering on Campus
We welcome and encourage parent volunteers, in accordance with district guidelines. Before volunteering in classrooms or chaperoning field trips, all volunteers must have TB clearance and meet all other district requirements, which must be on file with the school office. Please contact your school site to learn how to become an approved volunteer.

Campus Visitors
All volunteers and visitors must check in at the front office with a driver's license or government-issued ID and wear the visitor badge they receive while on campus.
To keep students safe and protect the learning environment, only children enrolled in HBCSD schools may be in classrooms, lunch areas, or on the playground during school hours.
Volunteer Mandated Reporter Training
Beginning July 1, 2026, Senate Bill 848 expanded California’s mandated reporter requirements to include certain school volunteers. Under the law, volunteers age 18 or older who interact with students outside the immediate supervision and control of a parent, guardian, or school employee are considered mandated reporters.
These volunteers must complete mandated reporter training within six weeks of beginning volunteer service and annually thereafter. The training is intended to ensure volunteers understand their responsibilities for recognizing and reporting suspected child abuse or neglect.
School site volunteers can use the flyers below to self-register for the Mandated Reporter Training. Each school has a unique registration flyer and link that will automatically connect the volunteer to the appropriate school site and assign the required training.
