Translation Services

District Communication System | ParentSquare

As part of Huntington Beach City School District’s (HBCSD) new student enrollment and the annual student data confirmation process, parents can select the language school and District communication is received by setting the preferred language in the Aeries student database system under “Correspondence Language.” The request for this correspondence language can also be submitted by contacting your student's school office, 

By updating the ‘Correspondence Language’, will ensure communication is distributed in the preferred home language. For additional ParentSquare resources, please visit the Parent Technology Resources website.

Districtwide Websites

Each school’s and district website has a Google option to change the language to a user-preferred language. You can update the preferred language on the website by clicking on the “Select Language” drop-down menu (available on the bottom right of all websites)  and selecting the language of your choice. 

Additional Translation Resources

The following list of items is available for translation into Spanish. However, if a translation is required for languages other than Spanish, upon request, translation services, requests can be submitted at the school office. The District will utilize the Orange County Department of Education translation resources and/or a language service.  

  • School notices and documents containing essential information, i.e. safety notices
  • Information regarding significant changes to school operations, i.e. community meetings, board meetings, etc.
  • Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • 504 Plans
  • School Attendance Review Board notices and meetings
  • Student Study Team meetings
  • Absence and truancy letters
  • Suspension letters
  • Annual Notification to Parents
  • School and Parent Compacts
  • Enrollment and registration documents, including Home Language Survey
  • Additional forms may be translated upon parent request, i.e. report cards, progress reports, parent permission forms, etc.

Oral translation requests can be submitted via the Translation Request form/link for written and oral translation. The District translation services are currently only available in Spanish. If a translation is required for another language translation services will utilize translation resources from the Orange County Department of Education and/or a language service provider. Parent volunteer translators may also be provided for languages such as French, Vietnamese, Japanese and Hebrew.
