Arts and Music in Schools (AMS)- Proposition 28

What is Proposition 28?

What is Proposition 28?

In November 2022, California voters approved Proposition 28: The Arts and Music in Schools Funding Guarantee and Accountability Act (AMS). Proposition 28 provides an ongoing funding source to support Arts and Music education, which will vary in each fiscal year in an amount equivalent to 1% of the K-12 portion of Proposition 98 funding.

Each school is required to submit an annual Proposition 28 Plan for Board approval, which also must be posted to the school district's website and the school’s website.  Annually,  School Site Councils review and approve plans for each of Huntington Beach City School District’s elementary schools and middle schools which are then submitted to the Huntington Beach City School District Board of Trustees for approval.  Additionally, school districts provide annual reports to the Board of Trustees regarding its expenditures related to Proposition 28.
