The California School Dashboard is now live and available for you to explore. This online tool, provided by the California Department of Education, offers an interactive platform to help families, educators, and community members see how schools and districts serve students. It highlights key performance areas such as academic achievement, attendance, and other measures of student success, offering a clear picture of progress while identifying growth opportunities.
At Huntington Beach City School District (HBCSD), the Dashboard includes indicators such as English Language Arts, Mathematics, Chronic Absenteeism, Suspension Rate, and English Learner Progress. These performance measures inform our decision-making and shape our Strategic Plan and Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) to ensure we meet the needs of every student.
We are proud to share the following highlights from this year’s Dashboard:
Academic Achievement: HBCSD maintains high proficiency levels in English Language Arts and Mathematics. Significant progress has also been made among socioeconomically disadvantaged students and students with disabilities, reflecting our focus on literacy and the impactful work of our literacy coaches. These achievements align with Strategic Plan Area 1 and LCAP Goals 1 and 4, guided by our Literacy Framework and commitment to effective teaching strategies.
Student Well-Being: We have reduced chronic absenteeism by 3.7% and suspension rates by 0.4%. These positive outcomes stem from our focus on creating safe, supportive learning environments (Strategic Plan Area 2 and LCAP Goal 3) and strengthening parent engagement (Strategic Plan Area 2 and LCAP Goal 2).
Looking ahead to the 2025-2026 school year, we aim to:
Improve outcomes for Long-Term English Learners (LTELs) by equipping middle school staff with integrated English Language Development strategies and increasing awareness about LTEL status.
Reduce suspension rates among foster youth through targeted support and collaboration.
We encourage you to explore the Dashboard and learn more about our District and schools' performance. You can visit the California School Dashboard directly at https://www.caschooldashboard.org/. To help you navigate the tool, we recommend exploring the following resources:
