Preschool Academy

Available locations: Eader Elementary and Perry Campus

An engaging learning environment designed for independently toilet-trained 3 to 5-year-olds to support the development of the “whole child.” Emergent curriculum aligned with the California Preschool Foundations and Common Core Standards that adapt to the interests of children. The Preschool Academy Program is creative and child-centered, encouraging the exploration of science, mathematics, art, music, and literacy. Designed to flow directly into the kindergarten curriculum allowing for ease of transition to the elementary school program.

We welcome children who live in or beyond Huntington Beach. Transportation is the responsibility of the parents/guardians.

Experienced, highly qualified, and licensed Early Childhood Instructors (1 instructor: 12 children ratio, maximum 24 children).

 

We are currently accepting enrollments for the 2024-25 school year! We offer both half-day and full-day options for 2-3-year-olds, and you can choose between 2, 3, or 5 days a week. Fully toilet trained is not required. With experienced, highly qualified, and licensed Early Childhood Instructors (1 instructor: 6 children ratio, maximum 12 children)

For 3-5-year-olds, we have a half-day option at Eader Elementary and a full-day option at the Perry Campus. Additionally, an early care option is available at Perry from 7:15 am to 9 am.

To begin the enrollment process, please fill out and submit the 2024-25 New Enrollment form along with the $100 non-refundable, non-transferable annual enrollment fee. This payment will secure a spot on the roster, and you will subsequently receive the enrollment packet.

    To enroll, please complete and submit the 2023-24 New Enrollment form with the $100 non-refundable, non-transferable annual enrollment fee to secure a space on the roster (based on availability).

  • Please find a sample, flexible schedule that allows you to see a typical day across the program below. The children enrolled in the Preschool Academy additionally have access to regularly scheduled library visits and music classes. 

    Half-day Program

    First Hour: Circle Time/Stories, Small Groups, Literacy, Science, Art or Math

    Second Hour: Snack, Music & Movement or Free Choice

    Third Hour: Lunch* and Outside Play

    Fourth Hour: Centers, Free Choice Art, Science or Writing

     

    Full-day Program: 

    First Hour: Circle Time/Stories, Small Groups, Literacy, Science, Art or Math

    Second Hour: Snack, Music & Movement or Free Choice

    Third Hour: Group Time, Outside Play 

    Fourth Hour: Lunch* 

    Fifth Hour: Rest/nap Time

    Sixth Hour: Snack, Group Time: GLAD, story, game, music & movement

    Seventh Hour: Outside Play (weather permitting), Exracurricular Classroom (STEAM/Calming Room/Library), Free Choice, Art 

     *Children will bring their lunches for tuition-based sessions

    The HBCSD Preschool Academy prides itself on preparing and serving snacks aligned with all new ​federal and state ​nutritional guidelines.  With childhood obesity and malnutrition both on the rise, it is more important than ever to ensure that we provide nutritionally dense, balanced, and appropriately portioned food for children.  We serve snacks daily and encourage families to choose and pack nutritionally balanced items for lunch. 

  • Medications: It is recommended that medication is administered at home, as the Preschool Academy is a part-day program.  In the case that your child needs to maintain emergency medication in the Preschool Academy Program, we must have the written request of the parent and written order by the child’s physician.
