HBCSD Earns Honor Roll Recognition

Posted Date: 11/21/24 (5:00 PM)

Huntington Beach City School District (HBCSD) is proud to announce its recognition as an Educational Results Partnership (ERP) Honor Roll School District for 2024. Educational Results Partnership (ERP), a nonprofit organization that uses data science to accelerate student success, has released its 2024 Honor Roll list of California’s top-performing schools and districts.

This year, five of our schools—Dwyer Middle School, Eader, Peterson, Seacliff, and Smith Elementary—earned places on the Honor Roll Schools list, solidifying their place as some of the highest-achieving schools in California.

“This achievement showcases the collective effort of our students, staff, and families,” said Superintendent Dr. Leisa Winston. “At HBCSD, we are focused on creating meaningful learning experiences and ensuring every student reaches their full potential. Being recognized as an Honor Roll District highlights the impact of our shared dedication to preparing students for bright and promising futures.”

The ERP Honor Roll program, supported by the Campaign for Business and Education Excellence, recognizes districts and schools that consistently achieve high academic results on the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) in English Language Arts and Mathematics. To make the Honor Roll, schools and districts must perform above the state average at least 80% of the time across all grade levels and student groups, based on three years of public performance data. Districts and schools must also demonstrate academic success across all grade levels and student groups and a reduction in achievement gaps for historically underserved populations.

This recognition is significant because it shows HBCSD’s outstanding performance, measured entirely through student achievement data. With fewer than 22% of eligible districts and 21% of eligible schools across California earning this honor in 2024, HBCSD stands out as a leader in equitable, high-quality education.

This achievement reflects HBCSD’s focus on fostering environments where every student has the opportunity to thrive academically. Aligned with our strategic goal of building staff capacity to maximize student learning outcomes, this recognition highlights our educators' dedication and our students' hard work. The Honor Roll distinction inspires continued collaboration as we empower all learners and prepare them for a successful future.

HBCSD and our five Honor Roll schools will be featured on the ERP Honor Roll website. We are grateful to our community for their continued support and celebrate the outstanding achievements of our students, staff, and community.
