Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Program Expansion

Posted Date: 12/20/24 (11:00 AM)

We are excited to share that our Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program is expanding to serve even more of our young learners! Here's what you need to know:

  • Expansion to Additional Schools:
In the 2025-2026 school year, Smith Elementary and Eader Elementary will be added as TK sites, joining the TK classrooms at Hawes and Peterson. Currently, Hawes houses four classes, and Peterson has three. This expansion is anticipated as we prepare to meet the needs of our growing TK program.

  • Full Implementation:
By the 2025-2026 school year, we will achieve full implementation for all eligible children who turn four by September 1. At that point, we project enrollment of approximately more than 200 TK students across 11-12 classrooms districtwide.

  • Updated Age Requirements:
The age eligibility for TK enrollment has changed due to updated state guidelines. Here is the 2025 age requirement chart

  • Updated Student-to-Teacher Ratios:
The student-to-adult ratio will decrease to 10:1 as part of updated state requirements.

  • Early Childhood Education Options Meeting:
We invite you to learn more at our Early Childhood Education Options meeting.

    • English session: February 13, 2025 at 6 pm

    • Spanish session: February 22, 2025 at 9 am

We are committed to keeping you informed and engaged as we finalize plans. In the coming months, we will share updates to ensure a smooth transition for our schools and families.
